About teenagers...

Last week, I asked one of my teens class, (they are between 13 and 15 years old) a few questions to write and answer on a piece of paper, totally anonymous.

And the answers are, from all of them, bar one:

Favourite posture: shoulder stand and child pose.

Favourite part of the session: final relaxation.

Favourite kind of yoga: dynamic and challenging!

All those answers on the same paper. From the same girls.

Makes my planning of the classes slightly challenging. 😅

But most importantly and interestingly it reflects so much the complexity and turmoil happening in the mind of a teen.

They crave challenges and physical exercise but also calm and quiet. They want to move and they want to rest.

They need activity and relaxation.

The teenage brain is so complex, so full of contradictions. It is fascinating. It is endearing.

Teenage years are not easy.

Our teens face so many challenges nowadays. It is a scary world to be growing up in.

So let’s nurture, look after our young ones. They can be annoying, infuriating, but they need compassion, empathy, strong and fair boundaries.

So next time you cross a group of loud, a bit scary group of teens, remember your teenage years. Remember they are scared. Remember they probably have not clocked you and did not mean to annoy you. Or maybe they wanted to, to feel strong and in control. But really deep inside, they are really scared.

Yoga for exams is on 2nd June, at 5pm. To book, head to my website or message me.
